Introduction geography
Macedonia is a country situated on the Balkans. It has borders with Serbia in the North (221 km), Bulgaria in the east (148 km), Greece in the South (246 km) and Albania in the west (151 km). The total border length is 766 km. Macedonia has no direct access to the sea. At the map at the right you can see where Macedonia is situated in Europe.
Macedonia is a mountainous country. The highest mountains can be found at the Sar Planina. It has several lakes, with Lake Ohrid as the most famous lake. It is one of the oldest lakes on earth. Macedonia has high seismic risks, with on the 26th of July 1963 a catastrophic earthquake in Skopje.
Macedonia is situated on the major transportation corridor from Western and Central Europe to the Aegean Sea and from Southern Europe to Western Europe. From the strategic Greek harbor in Thessaloniki to Budapest in Hungary. From the Bulgarian port Burgas at the black to the Albanian port Durres on the Adriatic Sea. See the map below.
Therefor Macedonia has a lot of oppurtinity's , because Macedonia covers a large area with consumers and could be also a chain between South-Eastern Europe and North-Western-Europe and don 't forget Asia!
