The Balkan pages

On the 9th of October 2004 I entered for the first time of my life Macedonia, by the way of transport I prefer: the train. I took the train from Thessaloniki (Greece) to Ljubljana (Slovenia) and I was on my way to Skopje to visit a friend of me. The Macedonian border police was very friendly: "welcome to Makedonija!". This was a point of no return, because I felt directly in love with this little country and it 's friendly people.

What I go to write you now is my personal (colorful) opinion as a European-Dutch citizen: Of course the living standards are worse than at home, there are much more problems than at home, the political situation is much worse than at home, but it isn't that. It is the whole setting, the whole history, all people and of course the splendid nature. During my last trip I again discovered the huge hospitality and interests from the people. I recommend you to see my pictures.

Macedonia is my favorite country and that’s the reason I created these pages: give the visitor of this website more information about Makedonija!

ps) I know there is also a Greek-Macedonia. That’s the reason why Macedonia is recognized under the name "Former-Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia (=FYROM)". I do not use FYROM, because it is a political issue and I don’t want to play that game. Almost all countries did recognize Macedonia as Macedonia and so do I.....
